You should let the idea go. They are cute but they are fad pets and people tire of them quickly. They aren't easy to find good homes for and few know how to care for them properly.

Well, first of all, you sound very young. You should really wait and research these little guys first. Just because they're cute doesn't mean they'll be great pets. Sugar gliders aren't like hamsters. They are high maintenance exotic animals.
Sugar gliders are social animals and it would be best if you'd get 2. So roughly the cost for 2 would be about $300 minimum
They also need a large cage. Not a hamster cage. The cage will cost roughly $100 (mine costed $200)
So as you can see these guys are very expensive.
Did you know that sugar gliders are nocturnal?
This means that while you at school they'll be sleeping...and when you come home from school they'll still be sleeping...and while you getting ready for bed they'll be wanting to play.
Can you stay up till midnight or later playing with a sugar glider on a school night?
If I were you, I would research all I can about these critters and see if they'll really make the best pet.

If you do feel that 2 sugar gliders would be a great pet for you then start working around your house and earn the money for them.

Get all of the information that you would need if you were to get one. Find out what kind of food you would need, what kind of attention they need and then after you know everything there is to know about sugar gliders then you can decide if that is what you really want, if you still do then go to your mom again with all that information and be able to answer any questions she has. Showing responsability will really help, but sugar gliders are a lot of work and have some very strict requirements if you think you are up to it then try again later.

Sugar gliders are not your usual pets...You probably need to listen to your mother.
First of all, they are nocturnal. When you are up, it will be asleep and when it is up...you will be asleep.
You have to bond with them--which means you have to wear them in a pouch for awhile.
In order to handle them, you must gain their trust.
They must have a specialized diet.
They need a sleeping pouch,
They need alot of cage space so they can glide.
They also make real loud racket for such tiny things...it's called crabbing (and that's what they are doing...raising cain)
and they need to be handled and played with....they can get depressed if they are neglected and die.

Sugar gliders require a lot more care than your usual pet. Are you ready to do your research and decide if you really want one and are able to take care of it? If you do you research and prove to your parents that you are capable of properly taking care of one, and that you can provide the money to take care of one, then you have a good chance of convincing them. Read this web site and decide for yourself. Good luck!

Julie Schor, author of Born to Buy, made a study of fifth and sixth graders and found that those who are more materialistic and consumer-driven develop higher levels of depression and low self-esteem.
Instead of focusing on what you can't have (or what your friends do have), perhaps you might consider nourishing parts of yourself that don't require buying things to feel fulfilled.

Get over it.
I agree with everyone on the wait until you can afford to pay for vet bills, pet supplies, food and time to care for it.... by then, you won't even have to ask!

If you already have pets then work with them all the time and show her that you are responsible. If not, do more around the house.

u should just give up now. they are a flying possum, get that? flying rodents! granted they are cuter than fudge but they need a cage that is about the same size as an owl cage to live normally. you should just give it up.
