ha ha ha....a good one!

By getting a world map first and start with the easy things such as that Europe is not a country but a continent?

Seriously, I don't think it is possible for Americans to have a good solid understanding of what is going on out there for various reasons.

American Press and News
American Culture
Easy and weak education system
Life style
being located so far from the rest of the world ( Like australia) etc...

Just go through the questions regarding Mid East, the Israel Lebanon war, Muslims, China, Africa etc...asked by Americans...They are totally clueless, ignorant to the bone and full of chaos.

I do not know how they can defeat this ignorance but they better do something about stop living in fear and hatred and start learning about the issues they so much fear of...

The more they learn the less they will fear the world...

Only will happen if we cumulatively decide we have a responsibility to educate ourselves, in regard to current events both at home and abroad.

So many people think they can just watch the 6 o'clock news and they'll know eveything they need to know. One of the huge realities of today's world is that you cannot rely on any single source of information, if you really want to know what is going on. Too many news sources are owned by people who have political agendas of their own.

It takes a significant amount of time, and the determination to become better informed, to seek out and find enough information about global issues to get a good idea of what the truth is. You have to read other countries newspapers, as well as American news, to get a perspective on the stories. You have to study a bit of history to know what led up to today's situations.

The Internet is a fantastic information gathering tool. Most newspapers can be read online. But, you have to give up enough of your time to do it. You have to care enough to do it. We live in a global community now, and the blind ignorance you speak of will continue to bite us on the butt if we don't start paying attention.
