Actually, it is good that you are worrying some. It should be fun and exciting, but it is also a tremendous responsibility and you seem to realize this. Also, if you don't agree on which car to get, I'd go with your dad's opinion... because he has more wisdom and experience than you, plus he is worried about your safety. He is having to let his little girl grow up, at least give him the comfort of knowing that he is picking the safest thing for you!! Try to understand that this is VERY hard for him!

It would be more exciting if you were not the one paying for it. If someone else was taking the note, you could do a little dance and have some fun. Once you get it home and discover the independence of having your own, you will enjoy it and then the fun begins.

I looked on getting my first car as getting transportation. And I was grateful for what I got. If he's paying for it, he's got the position of power. Look for excitement and fun when you can afford to pay for your own car. It will mean more to you then, too.

The excitement comes after you get the car. Trust me, no one wants to stress about it, but we all do. I did the same thing.

cars are fun, sure, but they are a significant financial responsibility, a "hey, I'm responsible" reality check, and an accepted personal risk. Of course there's going to be stress.

You know what...I don't think parents hsould buy their kids cars.
I think it's a waste of the parents money and doesn't teach the kids that they have to work for things.
By the way: I haven't had my own car. My mom will not be able to buy me a car. No one will buy me a car except myself.
