Illegal immigration effects the United States economy in a number of ways currently under much dispute by politicians and others. In other words, it's a matter of opinion.

My opinion is:
The effect depends on how extensive the problem is.

At this time the problem may be so extensive that it is preventing people in the country from obtaining employment and causing a large number of people that would otherwise have jobs to be unemployed.
