There is little consistency in African football - the team that's best this year (Ghana) wasn't the best team 4 years ago. The top African teams over time has varied from Nigeria (won the Olympics), South Africa, Cameroon to Ghana. However; Cameroon, Nigeria and South Africa didn't even qualify for Soccer World Cup 2006. Who's going to be best in 2010? Who know - perhaps Namibia!

Ivory Coast. They played in World Cup losses to Argentina and Holland and beat Serbia. They also made the finals of the African Cup of Nations, losing to host Egypt on penalty kicks.

I think it's a toss up between four different National Teams.
Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Ghana and Egypt.
Perhaps, its between Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon. Then you take into account in the past 2 years they've played each other 3 times and Cote d'Ivoire beat them twice and the other time Cameroon won. So I think Cote d'Ivoire just nick it myself.
So, my top 5 is:
1.Cote d'Ivoire
2. Cameroon
3. Ghana
4. Egypt
5. Tunisia

cameroon is definately the strongest but i dun know how the hack the miss out on the world cup this year. i also like the way ghana n ivory coast plays

cameroon..though they didnt qualify they are definately top...ivory coast too....keeping up with netherlands and argentina is hard to do...
