Yesterday, a senior Hezbollah official said that they were not expecting Israel to react like they did. Hezbollah crossed the boarder, killer 3 boarder patrol officers and kidnapped 2 more. The official said that they thought that Israel would just do their normal reaction of dropping a few bombs on Lebanon.
Now think about it this way. If you were a citizen of the USA and Mexico militia,( that controlled 23% of the Mexican political structure and all of it military), routinely crossed the boarder and killed American citizens and kidnapped them, what do you think the USA should or would do in that situation?
Now to tell you what Hezbollah is. For 15 years, the country of Syria was the occupying force in Lebanon. They finally left a couple of years ago but left there militia, Hezbollah, there to keep the peace. Instead they run raids and support terrorist that attack Israel.
Do you rally think that Israel is over reacting by trying to get rid of that terrorist force that is killing it's citizens and hiding in it's neighboring country? I don't. Once Lebanon is free of the influence of Hezbollah and Syria, then Israel will withdraw and the Middle East will find a little more peace.

We've all been worried about a looming war with Iran and Syria for quite some time now. In Santa Fe, New Mexico, young men and women protest every week on the Plaza downtown under the banners, "Stop the Next War Now" and "No War Against Iran." Try as I may, I just can't figure out how to comment on the tragic, but definitively diabolical Israeli invasion of Lebanon, supported as it is by rush shipments of "precision guided munitions" and "experimental weaponry" from the Bush Administration. I should say however, that it is clearly designed as part of the desired larger regional war involving Syria and Iran. Perhaps it's best to let Israel Shahak, former professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem comment for me:
"The wish for peace, so often assumed as the Israeli aim, is not a principle of Israeli policy, while the wish to extend Israeli domination and influence is. Israel is preparing for a war, nuclear if need be, for the sake of averting domestic change not to its liking, if it occurs in some or any Middle Eastern states. Israel clearly prepares itself to seek overtly a hegemony over the entire Middle East, without hesitating to use for the purpose all means available, including nuclear ones."

Israel is not at war with Lebanon. the war is against Hezbollah, who hide among the Lebanese civilians and U.N. observation posts and red cross ambulances.

Well its not really a war against Lebanon, but against the Hezbollah, they're not the same. Isreal is asking Lebanon to send their troops to help them dismantle the Hezbollah group.

I think that questions about war in gerneral are difficult to answer.
In this case we have a terrible situation where a country is attacking another country because of the terrorists they have in it. It does not seem on the surface to be an adequate reason to wage war and hurt so many innocents.
In fact I hate all war and have problems answering questions like this as I know that it is diffierent to be in one then to sit at my computer and think about it while I am missing information to answere properly.

Yes, I think they are right. What would we do if Mexico or canada was sending human bombs into our malls and killing people? We would not tolerate it and neither should Isreal from the Hezbollah. Isreal pulled completely out of Lebanon and immediately the Hezbollah in Lebanon started killing and kidnapping Isrealis. I hope Isreal kicks the s--- out of them.

No, how can murdering innocent people be right? They (Israeli army or IDF) are the terrorists, not these people that are getting killed on both sides. They justify it by saying that Lebanon is harboring bad people. Well, then they should attack all countries then. They are all guilty of that. They should start with their own.

Absolutely. Hezbollah attacked Israel, killing some Israeli soldiers and kidnapping others. If one of America's next door neighbors were to do the same such thing, I'd expect us to go in and kick whatever butt was required to get our people back.

I think the US should stay out of this stuff and stay neutral. Because eventually it will effect us. Truman was an idiot for putting Israel in that part of the world.
