I'm surprised that no one's mentioned vaporizing, which is really one of the safer smoking methods because you don't get all the harsh toxins in your lungs. (My musician friends prefer vaporizers before they sing.)
As for joints, use hemp papers if you don't like the "paper taste."
Handblown glass pipes are nice, but you have to clean them constantly to keep from clogging (don't use screens).
Metal and wood aren't recommended because they're too harsh. Bongs are okay, but as someone already pointed out, they're inefficient & wasteful (no pun intended).
I've never really understood the appeal of blunts (I'm not crazy about the taste of cigars & just quit smoking tobacco two months ago).
So, if I had to pick one out of your list, I'd probably go for the joint, followed closely by the (glass) pipe.

This is a question that I have pondered many times. Each has its benefits. Bong, without question, delivers the most smoke at one time, but is an ineffecient way to smoke pot because of the waste. Pipe is the most economical, and a reliable system, you basically just pack what you are going to smoke, no problems. Blunts are ineffecient and a waste of weed and you need to smoke tobacco at the same time, sometimes this is counterproductive to your weed effects. Joints are also slightly a waste of weed, while it is smoking while it is getting passed or you are holding it. Also with joints you are inhaling paper smoke as well as weed smoke.
I usually like to take joints when I am going to smoke weed at a party or someone elses house or a public event, so I don't have any evidence of drug use in my car or on me when I am driving home drunk and high or if I were to get searched.
The best way I think is a pipe, but not the most fun..bongs and joints are more fun...
Also a bonus answer...A good place to hide your weed sack on your drive home is the little door you open up to get to your gas cap (not in the tank, in the space)

Go with the bong at home. It provides a denser, cooler smoke and, properly chosen, can make an elegant statement on your coffee table.
A small pipe is handy to carry at work, for those small tokes in the restroom and stairwell.
As a rule, joints tend to waste smoke, but do master the skill of rolling them, if only for your own self-respect.

I like a nice water bong. I had a hooka, but the tubes get clogged too easily. Joints are good for concerts and such, ya know for the smoke on the go.

well i dont smoke anymore, but i used to. (I've got two beautiful daughters that I wouldn't risk loosing.) But when I was younger I smoked so much I think I smoked myself retarted! I loved rolling blunts (Peach Optimo) but I liked smoking joints the best, not too tight, but not too loose that everything fell out. Blunts are a close second.

I'm a bong man myself, though i always carry a pipe around just in case.... the bong just gives you the cleanest hit (my buddy's got a double filtration bong that gives you almost pure thc, the stuff is clear!)

You may think that it is so cool to get high with your friends but let me tell you a little something you can go to jail.
You are very precious dear It really breaks my heart to see you take this road of destuction. Someone has lied to you life is worth living and getting high well it only dulls the pain just for a while.
And when the high wears off the pain is still there.
