it's algea. You need more chlorine. I had a very hard time adjusting mine last summer. I haven't messed with it this summer.

yeah could be algae but if it doesn't go away like mine I took a water sample to a pool place they tested it for free and told me I need some stuff called algaecide and then to put pool stabilizer in once a week it's a bad algae that the regular chlorine tablets or shocket wont help.

It is the alge, but you will have to watch your ammount of chlorine you put in, it may cause the slipperiness as well. depending on your pool size, i just get the mixed tablets of chlorine, and the alge eater, and put one in a week, that is all i do.

After you have added more LIQUID (not powder!) chlorine, treat it with algecide, the dose will be independent of how many gallons of water your pool holds.

It is, as the previous poster suggested, "tiny livestock". When you tread on that slipperyness, while it might be alarming to you, it is fatal to millions of little algael (is that a word?) entities.
Up your chlorine and poison the buggers.
