Around the cuticle of my right forefinger there seems to be some kind of infection. I have had it for a while and thought it would jsut go away but it hasn't. There is a lump on the cuticle at one corner and the skin on it is very dry and cracked. I have been picking at it so no doubt that has added to the problem. Between the cuticle and the nail bed itself there is a very tiny gap - as if the cuticle is not bonded to the nail plate. It does not cause me any pain and there is no pus or anything - just really dry, raised skin. I was looking at buying a product I seen from Opi - their fungus fix serum. Do you think this would work or can you tell me what would? Thanks in advance!

Oh and the nail does not appear to be discoloured - maybe very slightly ridged!

could be anything, for the dry skin use a hand cream regularly to soften the skin. if the lump gets bigger and starts pussing its an infection, and u should go to the doctors for anti-biotics or something. if u have damaged the finger at some point could of been months ago, the nail may of come dislodge from the nail bed, but that would be the only explanation for that....

sounds like a fungal infection. I think you can get creams for a pharmacy though It would be best to go to the doctor as they will probably give you stronger creams or anti biotics as you do not want it to spread to your other nails.

It is a fungus. i've had it ...
if it get untreated you can loose the whole nail .... easy treatment though ....
In supermarkets, you can get an athlete's foot cream called LAMISIL ... massage it into the nail for a few weeks and it should go away!

Hi, i would recommend soaking it into salt water to see if it goes down, if not try going to the doctor he might be able to give you something for your nails, If you use creams then it could make it worse

try an intensive moisturising cream if that doesn't work go ask your pharmacist for advice
