The first one is one of my favourite movies ever, the rumour of a sequel has been around for about 3 years, never actually been confirmed as far as I know. Fingers crossed it happens soon!
Just found this article from 2002 on the net...
Dude Where's My Car 2 Apr. 16, 2002
Source: Variety by: Mike Sampson
Following the announcement yesterday that a MISS CONGENIALITY sequel is in the works, comes the equally as distressing news of a DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR sequel today. Fox will bring back producers Gil Netter and Wayne Rice and will have the original film's writer, Philip Stark, write the script. The stars of DUDE, Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott, will decide to participate upon approval of the script. The new film will be called (and no, I'm not joking) SERIOUSLY DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? and would basically follow the same basic plot of the first with the two stoners once again losing their car. Should the project go ahead with Kutcher and Scott, it would be filmed in 2003 while Kutcher is on hiatus from "That 70s Show." Kutcher recently wrapped filming on JUST MARRIED with Brittany Murphy and Scott is currently filming BULLETPROOF MONK with Chow Yun-Fat.

Have you checked in the driveway? LOL
They probably aren't bringing it out yet because they don't have enough advetising money, or there are too many major realeases to compete with coming up. Like Pirates of the Caribbean, greatest film in the universe EVER. If they realeased it at the same time as one of the V big realeases then it wouldn't make much money as people are watching the major films other than that. Basically its all about money.

Can't find anything to say this is in post production. May be the profits were not healthy enough for more sequels.

Oh was that your car I stole last night? So sorry about that. I'll have it back by midnight tonight unscratched and without a dent on it.

Maybe because no one liked the first one, so there's no reason to make another sucky movie that no one wants to see.
