Pressing that key just sticks the snapshot into the Windows clipboard, but you can then paste it into ant image editing software. Even MSPaint will let you do it, just launch Paint and select the Edit->Paste menu item to see your image and save it off.

You can open a photo editor and paste it on there... Paint will do the job.
Try this.
1. Press Print Screen on the window/screen you're trying to capture.
2. Click Start --> Run --> type mspaint and hit ENTER
3. When paint opens, click on Edit and click paste.
To get to paint without using command, go to your Accessories, it should be there.
Note: You can paste the screen shot you just took on any program that supports OLE drag and drop... MS Word will do fine.

Wheh you hit PrtScn, the screenshot is copied to the Windows Clipboard. You can use Paste command in any graphics-enabled program (Paint, PowerPoint, even Word) to paste the screenshot into whatever you are working on.

the material you want is inside of your screenshot, which is actually called a Screen Capture.
try to use this link without buying the advertised program if your operating system is windows XP (see the hyperlink source below):
if you are using DOS, and not the windows OS (which runs on an overlay of DOS), just write your DOS command and then follow it with: >PRN or /prn. such as: chgdir /prn.

This usually puts a bitmap image of your screen on your clipboard. You can paste that bitmap (Ctrl-V) into a word processor or a paint program.
Try Alt-PrtScn for a bitmap of just the current window, not the whole screen.

This effectively copies it to your virtual clipboard, you then need to paste it somewhere, like in Word or paint, or somewhere.
