you're stereotyping there lol, even tho you are actually true.

the media is the answer... they show all the butch people and guys who wear lipstick and point "these are gay ppl..." they never bother to show people like Barney Frank, a huge person in the House of Reps as being gay, or others. if you "act" straight, they don't tell anyone they are gay, but if they "act" feminine or butch, they make some huge deal out of it.

I wish Oprah was really a lesbian lol. She would change people's views on GLBT people.

I'm a straight female and I don't think that all gays are the same just as I don't think all straight people are the same. There are good and bad in all sexual groups. I like lots of straight people and also lots of gays, just as there are ones in both groups that I am not so fond of. To be honest those people who who place all gays in the same pigeon holes are so shallow and narrow minded that they are not worth worrying about. Keep smiling.

Look at the mainstream media for the answer to this they stereotype all gays with a lisp or effeminate acting. There are no normal acting gay men they all cry or act like Nancy boys. It makes me sick. This is why I reject the label gay it has come to mean something that is not me. I am g0y and glad to call myself that.
Gay has such a stigma many are rejecting this label. In just one year the g0y movement has grown to over 34,000.

I've actually noticed this too. The problem is that if you are a "straight-acting" gay man you can spend years in the accompany of co-workers and friends without them ever knowing. The only ones they KNOW are gay are the really obvious ones. Effeminate (sp?) men and butch women.

So you what do you? .. you stereotype ALL str8 people, by saying they "all" see "all" gays as being the same. I have found that many more str8 people are accepting of gays than other gay people.. once you get out in the community more.. you will wish you had stayed in the closet.

the problem is because of how the media portrays the sterotype so many straights think that we are feminine. when in fact we are all different. But the sterotype is still gonna exist with many of the feminine gays no matter what we do.

If they admit that a gay person looks for the most part just like themselves, they get scared.

Cause some of us are so good about going on about our lives they have NO idea we are gay. They have NO GAYDAR what-so-ever and very weak assumptions to go by.

People believe what they WANT to believe and then look for examples to support their ideas.
