I am going on vacation in a couple of months and was thinking about traveling to Iran for a visit. BUT, I would like to know since I am a woman, would I be allow to travel there alone and would it be safe if I did. Would I have to wear any kind of covering (hijab) of any sort?
If possible could someone list a website that would tell about IRAN's Vistor Laws or whatever.
Thanks

okay the average American knows that Iran hates the U.S. and if you are a citizen of the U.S. why would you think about going there? If you want to go there you should go with your husband, a brother or a female Persian friend. In Iran (Isamic coutry) women can't be left alone outside or travel with out a male!!!!!!!!! HELLO! I think you should go because it looks so beautiful... but just go with a male loved one and or with a female loved one. and you have to cover your arms (women can't show their arms in isalm) ..... muslim men only want and have power over muslim women because they know that women can out beat them yet it has been their tradition for along time! and no iran is not an arab countryy hellooo do you know how angry they get when you call then arabs? lol they hate most of them as well as the arabs hate the persianss all this hate it's so horrible =/

I think you do not have to worry about your security in Iran,It is generally safe to travel but you have to be careful .You need not to put on any hijab but you should put on decent clothes which should cover your body.Iran is historically very rich and you decision to visit it is correct. You may ask Iranian Embassy or their Cultural Centre to help.

Hi Etown g

To be honest, although some posters here are genuinely helpful, most of them are xenophobic morons who know nothing outside their own shabby existance, and asking them what they think of Iran is just asking for idiotic opinions.

You're best bet is to try the Lonely Planet Thorntree forums. They'll have all the info you need.

To the rest of you, if you've never been to Iran, why the hell are you answering questions on it?

NO! IT IS NOT SAFE! Women are commodities in Iran. You are lower than dirt to the men. Iranians hate Americans. They see us as the Anti-Christ. Haven't you been watching the news? There is a war going on. And yes you would have to cover your entire body. Women are not allowed to travel alone. Men are allowed to beat and kill their wives or friends wives. Why would you want to put yourself in danger like that? If you marry and Iranian male you automatically become an Iranian citizen....even if you marry him here in the US, you become an Iranian citizen. Haven't you ever seen the movie, Not Without My Daughter?
It is not a good time to travel to the Middle East, now or ever. If you want excitement go to Alaska.

..if your not familiar with iranian customs i think its a very BAD idea to travel there alone...the only way you would be relatively safe there is to have an iranian friend with you at all times...same for any other foreign country your not familiar with really....somthing that we take for granted and as simple as smoking while walking down the street can get u thrown in jail in some countries...it pays to travel with someone experienced.

Dude to them we are the terrorists. solid and evil are a standpoint no longer a actuality. Our view of ourselves because the global police both economically and morally is a great deal offensive and seen as an instantaneous possibility to many communities and international locations. heavily if China popped up and reported "this how issues are executed in China so that's the way it ought to correctly be international huge in case you want to do organization with China or acquire economic help from China." does no longer you be somewhat annoyed that some blowhards from yet another area of the international were forcing you and your countrymen to abide by there popular of residing? it is largely what we do and function executed for most years. we are saying whats up issues are happening in that us of a that we do not trust is sweet so shall we reduce off commerce with them and in the experience that they don't act like us we are going to bomb the hell out of them til they do or their authorities is thoroughly crippled. Then we ask your self why maximum of those human beings from the international places are blowing our stuff up and we are saying "whats up they're the undesirable men!" under no circumstances options many years in the past we bombed their us of a decrease back to the stone age. Obama purely realizes that usually we are the undesirable men and that usually our authorities acts like terrorists.
