this man works for cash only. he has dodged chils suport for 13 years total (for my 5 year old and his 14 year old) total he owes$38,000 for both boys. I tried suport kids, yes they found him, collected $80 and sent my son $13. it's not worth it. ocse has had the case for 5 years and are having a harder time now that he changed states. They do say that he'll have to pay $2,500 toward the child before he can get out. the way jails are now why would he want to leave, he has somewhere to sleep. someone to feed him. and probably getting more drugs in there than he did on the street.

i believe it depends on the law of where the child support order is held. you can just go to the child support office near you and they will handle it.

You can't get anything while he is in jail. I know this from personal experience. However, go ahead and go to DHR and get the process started so as soon as he gets out he will have to start paying. They will trace him by his social security number and garnish his wages for back child support as well as what he will have to pay anyway. I sympathize with you. Be strong. Single parents are the hardest working creatures on the planet. By the way, my ex-husband was sentenced to 10 years and only served 4, so there is a chance he will be out sooner than 5-1/2 years. Good Luck

I feel for ya. I'm guessin if he's in jail now you may be able to collect Child Support some day from social security if he ever gets his loser *** out of jail and gets a job. He'll probably do anything to stay one step ahead. Deadbeats always do. Child support enforcement is a place to start, but don't hold your breath. I gave up after 2 years.

Well won't be able to get much of anything as long as he's in jail, you'll just have to wait till he gets out. At least if he comes up with the money to get out, you'll get some money, but like you said, he may just decide to sit in there for a while, since all of his needs are being met that way.

You would have a much better chance of getting some of your money if he wasn't in jail. If he's in jail, he has no income. You can contact that child support for kids 800# or that might have a website. They brag about how they help you get your money. I don't know it won't hurt.

You need to call the Arkansas jail system to find out what you need to do, or the courthouse for the city where the jail is located to get the correct information.

Contact your local IV-D office. They will either be able to help you or tell you to contact a federal agency (as you are in separate states). For state agencies check here: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/extinf.htm
For federal agencies check here: http://www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/cse/
Chances are you aren't going to get anything while he is in jail, as he has no means of income, but I'm sure there are people at these agencies that can give you much more informed advice on what you can do.
Good luck.

Child support (if he refuses to pay and you get a court order) gets deducted from his paycheck. If he is not working there is nothing to get the money away from. So you'll have to wait till he gets a job with a paycheck.
