Oh, and they ain't crazy huh? This woman took her sick infant who was under a nephrologists care for a rare congenital kidney disorder and went to some alternative, LLL reccomended "health" care provider. The child is critically ILL. The doctors thankfully contacted CPS and got the baby taken from the mother and put back on lifesaving kidney therapies and medicines. This woman was convinced by LLL that her breastmilk alone was gonna cure her ill son. Insanity at it's finest.

I donated milk to my sick nephew who was born shortly after my daughter was born because his mother's milk didn't come in ,he had NEC, my milk didn't cure him. The neonatologists, round the clock hospital care, nutramigen, and the meds they put him on CURED him. Now he's a healthy 5 month old boy.

This woman is a sterling mother.

Peanuts: With all due respect, in my opinion, your orginization is a bunch of birkenstock wearing, formula mother bashing, insane cruncny granola deedle dwees. I would rather ask my dogs for breastfeeding advice than you. You advise women whose babies are OBVIOUSLY FTT to keep nursing, when it's clear the baby is dehydrated or malnourished. No, I don't trust anything you have to say. I hope the government shuts your clique of hippies down. Too many children have died or been ill per advice from your "organization". That's real.

Dear brevejunkie> Since you must be educated in every aspect of my life, I got on Klonopin when my baby was about 6 months old. So yes, that does compute. Do the math, and stop being a hateful biznite.

Mina: I agree. That's why I cared enough to share my milk with my nephew since I had enough to feed 5 babies. I never suggested women not give preemies breast milk. Just at one point in my nephews recovery, he was unable to even digest breastmilk, and he had to be on the pregestimil/nutramigen (whatever, I forget). Why would I have donated my milk if I didn't support it? I just HATE nipple Nazis. Every woman has a CHOICE. I will preach that till the day I die.

Tammie> KIDNEY PROBLEMS ARE SERIOUS. THEY REQUIRE MEDICAL CARE FROM TRAINED NEONATAL STAFF IN INFANTS. YOUR RANT IS IRRELEVANT TO THE TOPIC. nice try, though.

I live in Olympia and it was all over the news. The lady actually got her kid taken away then stole him from the hospital when no one was looking. They finally found him and just recently gave him to his father. They thought he was going to die because he was so sick, in the intensive care and she took off with him and disapeared. It was so sad. I was so worried about the poor baby. I dont understand why some people think their 10th grade education is far better than a doctors! Its ridiculous!

WHOAH.. firstly i consder myself a "boob nazi" as you call them, but i'm not stupid enough to not know when my child is sick or endanger their life in any way. One stupid person doesnt make all breastfeeders bad.. are you attacking breastfeeding in general? or just the LLL.

btw, I Have a premature daughter myself, NEC is a serious serious thing, breastmilk does NOT CURE it, who ever suggested that? feeding breastmilk to a preemie greatly REDUCES the chance of getting NEC in the first place. of COURSE you would need meds to treat NEC, and most times sugery as well. I'm glad he's fine btw, b/c the outcome is often not good.

I have never heard of LLL suggesting that breastmilk CURES anything, just that breastfeeding reduces your chances of getting certain diseases and illnesses in the first place..

another thing bothering me about your post is that you are suggesting that breastfeeding a preemie is NOT worth the time and effort b/c "nutrimigen" and medication cured your nephew. PLEASE feel free to state your opinions on breastfeeding but do not ever suggest to people to NOT breastfeed their preemie, thats just really not a good thing to do. Preemies are born with virtually no immune system , and many of them have lung disease and other illnesses like my daughter, it really is not an appropriate stance to take. Breastfeeding a preemie is SO SO important to their present and future health.

If you can breastfeed successfully, breastfeed. If you want to use formula, use formula. I am continually surprised at the ways in which mothers work against each other.

Don't let someone else tell you what's best for your child. If you listen to your head and your heart, you'll know what the answers are.

Namecalling doesn't get us anywhere. We're supposed to be mothers. Not namecalling little brats.

And before you think I'm a boob nazi, my son has been formula-fed since he was nine weeks old.

What exactly makes her a Nazi? The woman was misled in trying to treat her child, you dont know what led her to this decision so you can not judge. I can only imagine the turmoil the woman was going through seeing her child hooked up to all the tubes and equipment and being medicated. No one knows what they would do in the situation. Dont be so quick to judge and call names, but try to be more understanding. Two of my three children were preemies, I breast fed them both. They both overcame great obstacles and are normal healthy children.

How did you donate your milk to your sick nephew if you couldn't breastfeed because of the seizure meds you were on? This has been your argument all along...you're taking a class C (or is it D?) medication for seizures, so your doctor advised you against breastfeeding your child. But you can donate your milk to your nephew? This makes no sense.

Women like her should be forced into sterility. I know that sounds harsh, but unfortunate children of crazies like that end up with sad lives or as wards of the state. It's a shame.

Whatever your views on how babies should be fed, please do not use the word *Nazi.*
The Nazis committed horrible crimes before and during World War 2, massacring millions of innocent people. They have absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand.
