Download Google Earth here: http://earth.google.com/
It's easy to use and you can use it to find your house, especially since you live in a major city. I've found all of my houses with Google Earth. It's so fun.
There are three versions of Google Earth:
1) Free version: static images taken anywhere from now to 3 years ago. It includes basic measurement tools, also. You can search tons of locations, restaurants, schools, parks, etc etc. Very useful.
2) Google Earth Plus: All the features of Free version plus it can import GPS data, has higher resolution printing, and you can annotate (markup) the map with more tools.
3) Google Earth Pro: All of the above plus much higher printing res, more sophisticated measuring tools, and it supports many popular addons, like a movie maker.

If you don't want to install Google Earth you can access the same thing over the net from here:
http://local.google.com/
Just stick your post code (or zip code) into the search bar then, after it comes back with the map of your area, clich the Satellite button on the top right to change to a satellite view.
