I have the same problem. I started doing simple yoga stretches about an hour before I went to bed to calm myself then relax until I felt sleepy reading, writing or listening to calming music something light and quiet.
Don't doing anything strenuous or eat for a few hours before bedtime.
If all else fails try Tylenol PM but see your doctor first.

That was the first thing that happened to me before I was diagnosed with clinical depression. Avoid drinking or eating anything at least 3 hours before going to bed, and don't watch tv for at least an hour before going to bed. Try to read a book until you feel sleepy. Exercise can also help you feel more tired at night. If the problem persists, go to a doctor. Medication can help even out your sleep cycle.

Drink a mug of warm milk! Or you can run before you sleep, like an hour before, run for 40 minutes and get exhausted, and you can take a ten minute shower and 5 mins to change and 5 mins to brush your teeth. If this doesn't work, take one of those sleeping pills or check a doctor. Or listen to some calm music and stretch. Hope this advice works for you!

Try to be in a relaxed mood when you turn in. I know I can never sleep if I still have unresolved issues about the day. I also find it easier to sleep while I watch tv or after I've played a video game, something for my mind to pay attention to. As a last resort, you could just get a pint of liqour and sip it until you pass out. lol
