When there is a deadline for sending in a resume, do you stand a better chance of being noticed/remembered by sending the resume in as soon as possible, a bit before the deadline or right near the deadline? Setting aside who is best qualified for the job, I heard you stand a better chance of being noticed if you send in the resume closer to the deadline. Don't know if others heard the same. Just wanted to read others' opinions/experiences.

I like to send it in ASAP. It makes you look more like you are on the ball and committed to getting a job. Just like if you are going into a place to apply it's best to do it in the mornings, or if you are dropping off an application, don't do it in your street clothes, wear something nice.

The best thing to do is send it in prior to the deadline. Most companies today are not going to get caught excluding or overlooking resumes that were submitted for a position.

To get noticed make sure you include a killer resume cover letter - the site listed below offers a free ebook on the Top 10 secrets to the World's Greatest Cover Letter.

Then you want to follow-up after a couple of weeks.

Your resume will be remembered only by your qualifications (or no) NOT when you send it in to the company.

The only timing that helps is in interviews. The last person interviewed (if they are qualified and don't totally blow it by showing up in shorts and a tee) is the one who is remembered best and has the best chance. It's true.

Send it in before the deadline. We start reviewing them and picking the ones we want to interview before the deadline arrives. Get yours in first, and let everyone else be compared to you.

I try to send mine in early so they don't pick someone else first.

I've always included mine with the application.
