Is it affected by ethnicity because I went to the doctor for a physical exam and when he "checked me" he said that yours is normal for a white man. He said that most asians and Japanese men are really small? is that true?

Sorry I don't believe you. Because a doctor couldn't tell during a medical exam how big your penis is. He could see the flaccid size, but unless you got an erection for him, he wouldn't know the actual length.
A flaccid penis varies in length from a half inch up to the full length it would be when erect. Asian men on average have been around half an inch smaller than caucasians, but that has been changing over the last 50 years. There are no current studies to prove/disprove the ethnic difference between caucasians and asians. In general though, African men have a slightly longer penis than causcasians - again a small variance of around half an inch.
An erect penis is on average 5-7 inches long, though there are small variations based on ethnicity.

Flaccid penis averages between 3" to 5" in length. The average erection sizes in the United States are 5 1/2" to 6 1/2" in length and 4 1/2" to 5" in girth - which obviously means some are smaller and some are larger. And further, the majority of men usually hang LEFT!
