I have taken pills and used the Nuva Ring, and I can honestly say that the IUD is the best thing ever. I have several friends with an IUD, but I am the only one who has never had kids, so I was really nervous. And sure enough, it hurt when the doctor put it in (the thing about having kids/not having kids is that once you give birth, your cervix stays slightly dialated forever. Mine, obviously, isn't, and the have to dialate the cervix to insert the IUD into the uterus. That's the part that hurt - it felt like he was just jabbing the hell out of me!) But the whole thing took less than 10 minutes, and I was slightly nauseous for about 30 minutes and had some slight cramping for a couple of days, but I've had it for more than a year and a half now and I wouldn't trade it for anything. And as an added bonus, I don't have a period at al. As far as cost, if your insurance covers any of it, it shouldn't be that bad. It's a one time cost - my insurance covered all but $100 of mine, and for 5 years of birth control and no worries, ($20 a year, really!), it can't be beaten. I've never had any kind of side effects at all, once I got past the cramping the first few days. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!!

Normally, I wouldn't say this about birth control methods, but this is one that you need to *really* discuss with your doctor before making a decision, as it is not something you can just stop using like other hormonal methods of birth control.
In general, though, I've heard very good things. My doctor refused to insert an IUD (not IUC, as IUD stands for Intra-Uterine-Device), because I am young and have not had children, but since you're already given birth, the procedure for you would be easier and less painful. A lot of doctors will refuse to prescribe this method to even young mothers, though, so even if you want it, it kind of depends on what your doctor thinks is best.

I had the IUD Mirena for about 3 years, it is a five year IUD though. THe only thing that I did not like about it was that my period was very irregular. It was never heavy though so that was a good thing because I never knoew when I was going to get it and there were even months when I would spot lightly all the time. Needless to say I got it taken out and went to nuva ring which I hated, (the darn ring is huge) and went back to the good ole pill. Now my periods are right on track.

I easily have one(an IUD) and that i assumed a similar ingredient when I first were given one, I wasnt happy with it before each and every thing, yet i do not get any loopy discharge like a miscarriage or something, so i'm a fan of them, yet i attempt to no longer truly imagine about it by way of the undeniable fact that is analogous. If there have been discharge that appeared, um, unfavorable i guess, then i does no longer have one, yet there is not any longer something of that style.... an IUD does no longer avert implantation, it would not enable something connect to the uterus because of the rritation. So although replaced into all started receives terminated....

Yes, I am using Mirena. I don't have a problem with breakouts. I did gain a little weight. It works excellent for birth control. I haven't had a problem in the four years I've had it. I did lose my period though, completely. I don't have any complaints about that either. Dr. Says it's normal.

I almost got it....but I have never had a child so they did not reccommend it. I have friend who swears by it. You should really stay with one partner when you are on it. There is a higher risk of infection with mirena. Nuvaring is working out AWESOME for me. I highly reccommend that.
