Nothing to lose. While they are popular/big there are vested interests in keeping all members as appealing to as many people as possible.
This happens with actors too. Coming out can derail a career. It has nothing to do with being honest - it's a business decision plain and simple. Most Actors/Performers have altered themselves/their persona in minor or major ways. It's just marketing. They are a product. Since Lance was in a group, it was probably a group decision. I doubt he was embarrassed.
And actually, it is pretty personal. No one is really entitled to personal information of that sort no matter how big a fan. Even though celebrities trade on their familiarity and appeal, they are just people.

They don't care about what people think but they don't want to hurt the band, after all there are 4 other people's future at stake in Lance's case. If he was a solo singer all along I bet he would've revealed that he was gay a long time ago. Anyways, who cares.

Because they are attracted to their bandmates hoping that it would be reciprocated so they pretend to be gay in order to take baths together, touch each other on videos.. those sort of things. Have you seen "In the Line" starring Lance Bass. He had a good chemistry with Joey Fatone and that li'l rapper wannabe than with the girl! He is so gay.

To get attention. Lance being gay isn't news really. Who didn't know that? I think it would be news if one of the Nsync band members was straight!! Can I get an AMEN on that??

Well Lance was afraid that if he said he was gay then the popularity of N'sync would go down since he was gay. If you go to yaho HOme and press on Lance Bass admits he's gay and then press on more >>> then it'll tell you everything.

I don't think he chose to keep it a secret because he was embarrassed or ashamed. He was worried that it could affect the careers of his bandmates. Maybe he thought it would be selfish to risk the band's popularity just because he wanted to make his personal life public. And who is Will Young?

Because since Nsync will most likely never be top of the charts again, it's safe to say that coming out won't affect record sales since they probably won't be coming out with another record. Justin is doing his own thing and the others are trying to get their movie careers going.

I think he thought it would hurt the bands image...But I must say that I am not surprised I thought he was gay a long time ago. Sometimes you just can't hide it. I am now wondering when Clay Aiken will admit he is homosexual. I can't imagine he is really straight!
