Vista is a new operating system microsoft is releasing.

Running Vista will probably require a new computer for a lot of people - so if you are waiting to buy a new computer - wait for one that has Vista.

The requirements for Vista are pretty hefty - compared to Windows XP.

It should be more secure (but the security comes at the price of giving confirmation dialogs for every action), and yes, it will look prettier too.
