NO...not flooding the engine, it will foul the plugs.
Fix the cap.
You have a separate fuel problem.
That, answer above with "Spark on the intake.." Is Crap
Another.."washing away piston oil....." give me a break!
Where do they get that stuff?
By the way the spark occurs just beforeTop of the compression stroke, ignition for the power stroke.

It will not cause the engine to flood however it will cause the spark plug associated with that contact to foul because the fuel in that cylinder is not being burnt but instead it is building up on the spark plug. This will also cause the engine to run rough becasue you are basicly working on one less cylinder. Basically turning your four cylinder into a three cylinder. I would reccomend replacing all of that, plugs, wires, cap, and coils. Just because it might be time to tune all that up. Also with an empty tank put some fuel system cleaner (Recommend: STP) then fill up all of the way. Just for thoroughness sake, because there is also a possibility if your truck is having a hard time starting you might have a dirty fuel injector and it isn't shutting properly and its leaking fuel into the cylinder and causing flooding and a lack of fuel pressure pre-starting.

Listen to Grumpy.
Just what kind of 4 banger do you have that has two coils and 8 sparkplugs?
Get your foot off of the gas pedal and go for the start with a new distributor cap AND rotor.

Flooding Will take place... depending on the make, model... it's just a matter of time... you can patch the contact, but be sure to get a new plug... if the contact is beyond repair, you are gonna need Mike as grumpy says all of the above is dross! refit time...! But I do not know the make or model and would need more onfo!

It sure can. If it is the spark on the intake cycle that is bad, you are only igniting it on the exhaust stroke and yes, it will flood

if you know the cap is bad, get a new one, don't fool around..you're just wasting gas and washing away the oil coating on the pistons...which could lead to burnt rings and cylinder walls.
