The number of joggers that get heart attacks while young make the news because it is ironic. That doesn't mean there are a lot of them - just the opposite. Being out of shape is more likely to cause a heart attack than exercising frequently. Now that being said, there are people born with defects, or have genetics going against them. They can't change that, but knowing your family history can help you to prevent it. Covering your eyes, and hiding is not going to make you live and longer either.

On average they don't live that long. You're not seeing all the smokers who dropped dead decades earlier from cancer, heart attack, stroke, etc. You're just noticing the few exceptions to the rule and these people are sticking in your mind.
My father is battling throat cancer right now because he smoked. He's only in his 60s. Smoking just isn't worth the risk.

Life is not fair, but just because people smoke does not mean it is fair dying early. There is lots of things in the world that makes people ill. Think of all the chemicals we use every day without thinking of it, i dont believe that they dont do damage to your health.

There were twins that when they got to their 50's they both grew a large hair in the exactly the same place! this to me suggests that we have a life program and some people are designed to die young due to their genetic makeup.
so people dying young is part of nature and in normal part of the human condition.

Its all down to genetics, if you have long lived and robust parents or grandparents, then you have a good chance of living a long time too, if you have not so robust genes, then you may fall victim to the ravages of your lifestyle, personally I think too much of anything and a little of what you fancy is a good maxim, dont overdo anything, especially stress, and you will last longer!
