The paper should come from the front to prevent scratching the wall behind the roll. It also allows for easier access to the paper.

Mine is on a vertical paper towel thingy on the top of the toilet tank, as i have no place to mount a conventional toilet paper roll holder thingy. Unfortunately, the roll tends to unravel, and sometimes it ends up in the toilet. That sucks, because it takes a really long time to dry it out.

hm mm....intriguing question...... lol.
I always have it over the front. Have to! It bugs me to have the TP coming from behind + it doesn't come off right that way. It gets stuck and then rips leaving you short handed. Over the front is good for fast unrolling too.
Now if we can only get to the bottom of the age old dilemma of leaving the toilet seat up or leaving it down.......
:))

The paper should be coming from behind...or at least, that's how I do it. Didn't know a man could set up the roll of toilet paper, let alone properly, did you? :)
Like they say, I am one in a million!

Ann Landers had a letter about this years ago. She got so many letters arguing with her position, that she did a survey. She got THOUSANDS of answers, with people being VERY sure that only their way was the right way. Angry, insulting, nasty letters.
My personal position - if you have cats or dogs that enjoy unrolling th toilet tissue, the tissue should go over/toward the back, so your pet isn't unrolling the tissue all day for fun.
Otherwise, everybody gets to pick his/her favorite.

Over the front.
Unless you have toddlers, then coming from behind.
I remember when my sister was a kid she would smack the toilet paper and watch it unravel to the floor. Our mom reversed the roll on the holder...problem solved, at least for a while.

If you come over the top to the front, you'll likely use less paper. The other way is harder to control sometimes.

Over the front, folding the corners into a neat little V, puts Martha Stewart to shame!
