I had my first son 5 years ago on medicaid because of a situation that the father wanted me to have an abortion and I swore I would do it on my own, well with a little help. Now though I'm 4months pregnant with my second and have my own insurance plus I feel I'm paying it back though the amount of taxes being taken out of my checks, lol!

I did...I was 19 & a college student, unmarried, working in a nursing home making min wage. I recieved WIC also. My son is 5 months old now & I'm out of school (not working) but my b/f (his daddy) is still in school, but has a great paying job & now we do not use medicaid. We got off of it as soon as we could afford other health care :)

I did with my third one because we lost health insurance do to a job move in middle of the pregnancy and couldn't afford the COBRA payments.
Was probably the best move. Since the state health insurance covered a midwife whereas the old insurance wouldn't.

I just applied for medicaid and it is a looong process it seems, i initally applied for it over a month ago and I still have appointments to go to. Maybe its because I live in Milwaukee and I have to go to a slum neighborhood to get it. I dont know. I didnt apply for anything else because it isnt needed just medicaid.

I'm on MediCal right now for my pregnancy. They are paying for every part of my pregnancy at no cost to me...including doctor visits, ultrasounds, medicine, delivery, etc. It's helping out a lot!

We did not rely on government funding for our children. We waited until we were old enough, responsible enough and in a financial position to have children.
