I just want to know why is the rainbow the symbol instead of something else like a lion or a tiger or something?

Back in the 60's Judy Garland was active in the gay community. When she died there was the Stonewall Riots in New York because cops started fights with gays at a bar. Anyways, Judy sang the song "Somewhere over the rainbow" so now the rainbow is our symbol of pride.

One reason they use the rainbow flag is for a symbol of peace. It is used in other countries for this reason. In the gay community, the flag has been used since the 70's and the different colors are to symbloize diversity.

I don't know either, but I'm guessing it's a unity thing, you know all those colors together to make one beautiful entity.

When you see one and thats rare there are all these little queers chasing each other on it but you have to look real hard to see them.
