In short, wine contains alcohol. Our freezers cannot freeze wine because alcohol has a much higher freezing point than water. Wine will freeze..just not in a standard frige...

In the refrigerator part, the temperature is above freezing. In the freezer part, the temperature is below the freezing point of water, but the alcohol in wine lowers the freezing point of the mixture such that the wine may not get cold enough to freeze. Same principle as antifreeze in your automobile.

Wine is about 13% ethanol by weight. Ethanol lowers the freezing point of water, and at this concentration, the solution will freeze at about 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit. This is slightly below what most home freezers maintain. If, however, you can lower your freezer below 15 F, you should be able to freeze the wine.

First, Lisa S. is correct.
However, please note that although the solution itself will not freeze completely, there will still be ice crystals at the top of the solution. Some of the water in the system will freeze. This is the solution's attempt to arrive at a solution will have a lower freezing point than the freezer can provide. This freezing will continue until this solution is achieved.
Now, practicality... Don't freeze alcoholic beverages. There are yeast cultures and other media that are delicately balanced for flavor. If you freeze these cultures and media, you destroy the flavor and fullness of the beverage. This will aid in the decomposition of these cultures. Their death will "turn" the alcohol. In other words, you turn your bottle of alcohol into a bottle of vinegar (YUCK).

simply coz alcohol freezes at some -120 celcius compared to waters 0 degree freezing point....now way does ur fridge's temp.
get that low !
the hydrogen bonds in water make it that much harder to boil and easier to freeze...the lack of tht in alcohol makes it very tough to freeze...but easily volatile
