I'm talking about teenage girls who intend to get pregnant.

Do they not realize what they are asking for? Never mind the having of children out of wedlock (99% of the time), but what about what's involved in raising a baby by one's self?

Little sleep, little social life (if any), caring for the baby, cleaning up after it, and the list goes on.

And all because they think babies are cute, etc.? It's not a doll they can put away after playing with it.

Your thoughts? Anyone?

Well, I had 2 children before I was 20 but neither were planned and I was on birth control when I concieved both. Their father and I both work to take care of them so no one's tax dollars have paid for anything. My $300 IUD as well as both my pregnancies were paid with insurance through my mom. She didn't pay for insurance so it was nothing out of her pocket. My fiance covered what insurance didn't. I was 18 when I had my first child, 19 with my second. On the other hand, my 14 year old cousin got pregnant intentionally. Her mother is drawing welfare for her, she gets medicaid, and everything that the taxes out of my check goes for. Get this, she says her 15 year old boyfriend is going to buy her EVERYthing the baby needs. I couldn't help but laught at that. I understand that sometimes teens have surprise pregnancies, but other times they plan them without thinking everything through. It's a pity when younger girls plan their lives this way. I was old enough to actually provide without welfare or my parents help even though I was still a teen. I think a lot of it is peer pressure, stupid parents and school. I waited until I was 16 to lose my virginity. I still consider that kind of young. I don't see why these 11 and 12 year old girls want to have sex. I was too busy with my friends when I was that age.

i guess they seen all th ebaby doll commercials on tv and they think having a real baby will be that easy. and 17 or 18 is way too young to have have a baby anyway, the best time to have a baby is when you are done with school/college, has a good job, a place of your own. it makes me sick to think that a girl would have about 3 or 4 kids. while in school, trying to work2 or 3 jobs at some burger joints, and has no place to stay, and then complain about how hard life is. cant they see that it was their fault.

They should get one of those baby dolls that cry, the ones that they have to feed & change diapers for. They'll have second thoughts about wanting a child. I've seen these dolls on the Maury Povich show & they work like real babies.

I have a lot of thoughts on that. I makes me sick. I work my *** off...for what? To help pay for these little girls who pop out babies and never finish school. I pay over $50 a month for birth control just because I know I am not ready mentally or finincially for a child. I could go on for hours....but I will spare you.

I'm 19 and over 3 month pregnant, it's really hard and stressfull, and the father does not want it, but that's no excuse for anyone to judge girls who become mothers young. Instead we need to educate them and help the one who are already mothers be good ones and find a way to provide for themselves.

Yes, I agree with you, They should at least wait until they are done school. I think the mature age for girls to ge pregnant is 17 or 18, It depends who the person is though, and who the man is you want to be the dad.

1)LOW self-esteem
2)homes with absent role-models... or poor role-models
3)lack of supervision... lack of parents caring, contributing to the other factors above
4) it's a vicious cycle, their mother was an unwed parent, their sister, brother, .... and the list goes on.

the one thing i know for certain is, IT'S SAD,
the second thing i know for certain is, WE'RE PAYING FOR IT
