Genetic relay race - Schopenhauer reckoned we all had an inner 'will to life' drive - on one hand to survive ourselves and on the other to forward our genes..
That when I'm in a scientific mood - at other times do wonder if there more to it. As Hawking says in Brief History.. although physicists can say HOW the universe is made no one can say WHY..
Steer away from the conventional religions - apart from Taoism which interesting..
But my favourite pie in the sky and I hope it true theory would be that we are all here to learn and that life is like a school.. if someone told you to be a great person it would be like someone gving you the answers in a maths exam - mean little.. whereas to come here and learn that being a great person is the way to go - know the formula as it were - like the idea of that..
Bet alot of people have said 42? Original..

Scientifically speaking the meaning of life is to perpetuate genetic code. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to perpetuate your genetic code, but you can support the perpetuation of very similar genetic code.
Socially speaking, the meaning of your life was initiated by your parents and family. It grew as their hopes and dreams developed by watching you grow. But your meaning of life is relative to how you interpret and value those things around you specifically as they relate to your vision of yourself in the future.
Life has been shown many times over to be a basic chemical reaction with the right ingredients. There inherently is no meaning. However, the meaning of life is a human concept, but the device that makes that concept is also based on the unthinking chemical process. Your best bet for the meaning of life is to find the beauty in the world, make friends, and care for yourself and others.

This must be the most asked question on yahoo answers. Do a quick search and you'll get all the answers you need; including 42 about a hundred times. I'm glad you try so hard; next time try harder with the question.

Give more than you take, do your best to leave a situation better than you found it an see beauty in all forms, laugh heartily, take a breath to ponder the enormity of the universe an then admit to yourself that you can't possibly be the centre of it:)

Everyone has a different purpose. Find you passion/ passions, and you will find your purposes in this life. I think the untimate purpose is to find enlightenment, which is true for everyone. Other then that, your peace comes from your passion.
