Is this an unemployment hearing? If so, yes perfectly legal.

If this is something that your work does for review, you would have to check with your HR person, look in the handbook that they gave you when you started and that you initialed that you read.

Those same witnesses can be used by you also. You should get a chance for rebuttal after they present their testimony.

Find out what kind of hearing this is and then get some help from the proper authority.

Good luck.

Legally you must be allowed to take eithr another employee as your witness or a trade union representative. This should have been stipulated on your letter.
The witness for each side is not permitted to talk during the meeting, only at the break when you are left alone with them.

Hope this makes you feel better.
Go on to the CIPD website for full advice and laws etc

Do not take any advice from this site without consideration. However, my advive is as follows:-

If you are in the UK, take the following steps:-

If you are in a Trades Union, contact them immediately for advice, if you are not, see a Solicitor (Lawyer) pronto.
Contact Citizens Advice Bureau, who will give you free advice regarding legal representation. You may be entitled to legal aid, which will pay for your legal costs, including the hire of a legal advisor.

It is possible that your employer will be allowed to bring in witnesses. You must seek advice as I have said above to ensure that you are equally represented, with the right to bring in your own witnesses, and legal/trades union/personal advocates for you.

This is allowed and encouraged. Take a friend or family member along to ensure all is fair.

If you really feel they are walking all over you, hire a lawyer/ attorney.
