Kirk without a doubt is the best in my humble opinion. However, there is a theory out there that I do believe which states that the first Star Trek series you watch will be your favorite, thus making the question partially tainted to which show you watched first on a consistant basis. This works with both my wife and I. She saw Enterprise first and loves Capt. Archer, I saw TOS first and as a consequence love Capt. Kirk

Picard for sure. Picard is tough but he is all about discovering new species and alien life forms. Picard knows when It's time to fight. When Captain Kirk encountered new life forms or ships he would just say, "Lets fire some photon torpedos at it and see what happens. Oh oh we made it angry." The other Captains don't even matter.

Definately Jean-Luc Picard, he rocked. He had the best voice, was a trained actor, and was more realistic than Captain Kirk could ever hope to be.

Toughy... Patrick Stewart will continually be my No.a million (excuse the pun), however the quandry is Kate Mulgrew... i exchange into dreading Voyager popping out - It wasn't next era ! and it had a female as captain (do no longer mean to be sexist here, merely could no longer see it working) properly she exchange into easily fantastic in all aspects - Voice, concepts-set, Outlook, appearing..... So wager i don't have a conventional - merely 2 Captains who blow something out of the preverbial water :)

All had their good points, but I'm trying to imaging Matt Damon as the next Captain James T. Kirk (ST XI coming out in 2008). I know Shatner was a ham, but he was fun to watch. Going to be hard to compete with.
