Just the other day, a Democratic Leadership meeting in Denver heard a Black Demo Congressman from that city tell the group to adopt religion as a plank to get votes but to not get involved in "family values". Clinton in earlier years told this group to pretend to be centralists economically to get votes but to not abandon the socialistic agenda. "Progressive"--their latest self-label--is an acronym for "socialists", "Marxist" and "Leninist".

The question I pose is "Why can't the Political Left be honest about what they are instead of pretending to be something they patently are not in order to try to gain voters' trust, votes and election victories?"

Keep your remarks addressed to answering my question and your answer will be considered for the 10 points. Go into a rant and your answer will not be considered.

Short answer - because if they told the truth, they'd never get elected. Their ideas are seriously flawed, and only the laziest, most worthless people would vote for them.

Longer answer - Today's Democrats believe that, "The ends justifies the means." They are so sure that their ideas are right, they'll do anything to see them come to life. They don't think telling lies is wrong because they understand the "greater good." Democrats treat voters like children who can only make the right decision if they are guided to it by only getting part of the truth - or, quite often, complete lies.

I am a democrat and would like nothing more for my party to be powerful, but the truth is, the democrats are split into a million different sections. Most of the party is too busy accusing the republicans of doing things wrong than working on how to fix it. The rest of the party is trying to scramble for votes however they can because they figure that if they get a house or senate majority, or maybe the oval office, they can finally gain some direction.
That's the impression i get anyway.

It's the norm. An honest person would not be elected...everyone would assume he/she is hiding something. All sides of politics lie. As proof, I offer the 2004 presidential election. This election was swung by the invasion of Iraq, which was nothing more than a publicity stunt to raise Bush's approval ratings after being unable to locate Bin Laden.

Because they know full well if they tell the truth and tell the American voters exactly where they stand on issues - they would never win another election. Their only chance for survival is to lie and hide what they truly believe.

This is not a question. You're just stating you opinion. Then you ask people to answer your "question" for 10 points??? I guarantee you'll give 10 points only to a person who shares your opinion. You are so transparent. This question is propaganda for the red neck Bush-loving right wingers.

Surely you can see that the conservatives do exactly the same. The conservatives never reveal their true doubts about certain religious doctrines, because they would lose votes by being honest.

The "left" and the "right" both lie through their teeth. They just tell their respective flocks of sheeple what they want to hear.

Please get off the left vs. right bandwagon.

The left lie's because they have nothing to backup their accusations. They must make things up to make their points, which is ridiculous in itself. If they were honest, they wouldn't be liberals and wouldn't get their way.

It is the nature of politicians to lie, especially those that favor policies that the majority of the population are against.

Same reason the Political Right lies...to get elected.

Quick joke:

Two politicians are talking. One says: "You're lying!" The other replies: "Yes I am, but hear me out!"
