I have smoked 'wacky backy' for more than half my life (I am 32) and I see it as the norm.

What do you think??

I think they look down on pot smokers while taking diet ,sleeping and crazy pills from their buddy doc, then washing them down with a "few cocktails" and the booze is eating away at their liver,so when they think about it they light up another cigarette.

I think the majority of society look down on people who use weed because they've been misinformed for so long. Many do not know the scientific evidence about the actual health benefits of the drug, and even more still don't realize the number of deaths involving weed are far lower than those caused by alcohol. My personal feeling is that it should be legalized and regulated. No more money going to the drug lords and terrorists, just tax revenue for the governement itself.

This will never happen, however, because it would require the government to say that they have been wrong for years. No one wants to lose face in front of an entire nation.

Many use this herb to reduce pain, allow them to eat, sleep, etc., but the only ones we hear about are the lazy, non-productive types who populate the whole "stoner" group. People out there don't realize that granny smith next door might just be smokin' a doob for her arthritis, or that uncle joe needs it for his glaucoma. Alcohol kills brain cells too, but that doesn't stop people from going out after work and having a beer, and likely drinking and driving which is potentially deadly.

Naw, I'd rather see someone like you who goes home after a hard day, smokes a bowl and stays in relaxing. You're not hurting anyone, except maybe yourself. I don't think you can say that about alcohol drinkers, now can you?

It is like the gay question. They will look down on you the day they find out. They may have loved you the day before. I dont , I tried it as a teenager but I didnt like smoking anything. So its not for me. I know alot of people who do. The bad rap comes from the number of people that are stupid without the smoke, they act stupid when they do smoke , so mary jane gets blamed for making them stupid. HELLO , wake up those people were stupid before they smoked dope.It seems that the stupid people are the majority or smokers though. There are a lot of people that smoke that are intelligent , you just dont know they smoke , because its illegal and they hide it. It should be like alcohol , if you use it and drive or worse then you should be held accountable. If you want to catch a buzz and you are a responsible person, you should be able to drink a beer or smoke some weed , or take one of a hundred prescription drugs out there.

I guess so. The common image is of students or losers smoking dope all the time and wasting their lives.

Of course I accept this won't apply to alot of dope users but the simple fact remains - its a drug and its illegal so maybe thats why people look down on dope smokers, just as they would on a car theif or Heroin addict - not as bad (I know that!) but still ..... can't you relax without the need for chemical assistance?

I chill after work by going for a jog, watching tv, having a cool shower, playing on the PC (not all at once obviously) ....

Each to their own I guess

By "Wacky Ta-Backy" I assume you mean other then cigarettes. Yes, people look down on it because it is a drug and it is illegal. I do not smoke however, believe it should be legal after the age of 21.

"Yes"!!! Society does look down on you because over half have try ed & experienced the affect it has on people. Personerly i found that after experiencing the doppiness & being paranoid, i could not speak to straight people & expect people to address me in a serious fashion. So therefore i stop taking dope. "I enjoyed it when i was younger." "It is better than alcohol"

If you can give dope to your 18yr old children & be happy about it, then ?????
"ANSWER NO! NO! NO! but "It is better than alcohol"

There is NOTHING WRONG with you SMOKING DOPE as long as it makes you "HAPPY"!!??!!?

Yes, we look down on that. It's for a couple reasons: It's considered to be a gateway drug (although maybe not in your case) that leads to more addictive habits. It is illegal and the sale of it does nothing to help our economy. in fact it hurts our economy severly by allowing drug dealers to make money while certainly collecting social services. It costs the good taxpayers a large fortune to support the law enforcement to catch them and you. then we have to support the court system and then the corrections system. It often comes from other countries...many are enemies of the united states who benefit from your illegal drug money. it allows the producers, transporters and sellers the funds to delve into other hardcore pursuits such as crack, meth, gunsmuggling, white slavery and a myriad of other illegal and harmful activities. It is far more harmful for YOU in terms of carcinogens and is therefore more harmful for second hand smoke inhalers and the list goes on. just say no man.

Probably no more than people who smoke tobacco or drink alcohol. But effectively it's illegal and there is the argument that people who start with cannabis may well move on to harder drugs later on.

think of all the things you could have done with money you spent on pot. most people expermint and smoke for years. But ther is a time when you need to grow up. I think 32 is over that age.

Yes mature people do look down at people who smoke dope. If you can't deal with life while you're straight what makes you think you can deal with it high? Smoking dope is a crutch.

What are you doing with your life? I'm betting if you've been smoking pot for sixteen years, you aren't doing very much or very well. Smoking pot takes all your ambition away, sure you mellow out but think of all you're missing while you're spaced out.

It is a societal prejudice dating back to the "Reefer Madness" days, and was exacerbated by the counter-culture of the 1960's. People don't change very easily. Now it is easy for people to judge others that don't fit the current political mold.
