Let's see our government is now legally allowed to:
Spy on its own citizens without a warrant.
Break into your house without a warrent.
Throw you in jail without a trial.
Keep you from protesting openly anywhere except "free speech zones"
Keep a huge database of everything they know about everyone in one convient location to with as they wish.
Invoke the State Secrets priviledge when defending any of the above.
Sounds a lot like Fascism to me,

We are moving in that direction. Like one of the answers you got on this question said. It feels like something is wrong. Everyone can feel that in their stomach. That's because there is something wrong slowly we are watching our rights and liberty's being thrown out the window. That is why you feel that way in your stomach. Everything that America was founded on is being striped away from us slowly just like any fascist government would do to its people. You cant take away peoples rights in one day. You would have a revolution and mass chaos. The government must do this very carefully and very slowly, with things like the Patriot Act. The only reason why they called it that is because if you voted against it you are not a Patriot are you. In realty this Act takes away certain right that we had before its existence. These Act are just stepping stones to the ultimate goal which is to strip us citizens of our strengths which is freedom of Speech and freedom to assemble and the right to privacy. Once we loose these freedoms we have no strenght anymore. When you start hearing people tell you they dont care if the government listens to my phone converstion because I have nothing to hide, you need to asked your self how did it get to this point in Americas history were people dont care about the 4th Amendment that was made to protect them. It the same a you saying I dont care if my kids wears their seat belt in the car because I am a good driver. Once we stop caring about what truly makes America great like all of our freedoms as citizens then we will become an easy target for Fasicst Rule. I belive that we have already been targeted.

Fascism deceptively calls for the national unity of social classes, class-collaboration, but actually promotes the division of people by race, sex, culture, nation, or religion. Fascism was, under Mussolini and, later, Hitler, conceived as the "corporate state", that is, all the resources of the society were directed toward the support of corporate profits in the name of national unity and economic development. In order to motivate warriors and bolster profits, fascism conceals the real and insoluble tensions between those who own and those who work.
Fascism frequently is employed as a strategic base for war. Fascist shifts in government and official ideology grow with war preparations.
Violence and terror, made tolerable by racism and sexism (ideas which view people as sub-human) become public policy.
Yes. My answer is yes. We are not becoming one my friend, we have become one.

Yes. Fascism is nothing more than conservatism carried to the extreme, and that's certainly the way it's going lately. Here are some quotes from the Columbia Encyclopedia's definition of fascism (http://www.bartleby.com/65/fa/fascism.html):
"Peaceful, complacent nations are seen as doomed to fall before more dynamic ones, making struggle and aggressive militarism a leading characteristic of the fascist state."
"Another element of fascism is its elitism. Salvation from rule by the mob and the destruction of the existing social order can be effected only by an authoritarian leader who embodies the highest ideals of the nation. This concept of the leader as hero or superman, borrowed in part from the romanticism of Friedrich Nietzsche, Thomas Carlyle, and Richard Wagner, is closely linked with fascism’s rejection of reason and intelligence and its emphasis on vision, creativeness, and 'the will.'"
That sounds like the current administration to me, especially the militarism and the rejection of reason and intelligence. I've also heard a lot of Republicans espousing the idea of the corporative state (http://www.bartleby.com/65/co/corpor-st.html) although they prefer to call it the "free market".
Here's another eye-opener: http://educate-yourself.org/cn/fourteencharacteristicsfascism03jan04.shtml Can you name anything on this list that the current administration hasn't done?

Nazi's were Nationalist socialists.. but it wasn't the socialist part that was evil, it was the nationalist part.. and america is extremely nationlist.
Socialist elements are what makes living standards so good for everyone, not just for a few hand full, in most west european countries, scandinavian and dutch in particular.
It's americans who can not differentiate between nationalism, socialism and communisms.
Capitalism and nationalism are one extreme, communism the other, socialism is right in between those extremes.

As much as I hate to think about it, yes we are headed to Fascism. Jared H already said it, the patriot act allows the government to spy on us, the government can break into our homes without search warrants, throw us in jail without a trial, and take our right to free speech away. If the government ever declared martial law, we could easily see a dictator take power in a matter of days. The average life of a successful government is 200 years and we are around 230 years old. A little scary to think about. I beleive it was Patrcik Henry (correct me if I'm wrong) said citizens should revolt about every 20 years to keep their government in check.

People on the left try to portray Facism as being right wing. They tend to forget (or refuse to remember) that the word Nazi stood for "National SOCIALIST Party". The facists were socialists - not right wingers. The far-right are Libertarians - they believe in almost NO government. It's the socialists who want a strong powerful government.

No we are a representative republic. Fascist nations do not elect their leaders they assume power by force and do not have a limited term of office.

yea i do think so, the policy the united states is working on is always against the Arabs and dealing with them as if its not their right to live and as if they are sub humans, we accept all the cultures and religions, why the united states doesn't accept us as we are,if no body sees the unfair towards the Arabs then u are blind as its so obvious,be fair and judge fair and don't take any sides.. search for what happens to the Arabs everyday and u will see how much the united states is unfair!
