i am getting my other car from that garage it is an old banger too only 10 years old not 20

If I understand your question correctly most scrap dealers charge you now to remove your car because the price of scrap has dropped considerably low. I can remember being paid for scrap cars but the rules changed around 10 yrs ago. I think it's wrong though because knowing all the parts they sell on I know they earn at least £300 from each car anyway so why charge us for them to make even more money???

You should be lucky to leave it for free, although the garage will probably make a few more quid from it
