iPod's don't actually want you to be able to move files off of the iPod, but it is fairly easy. Connect the iPod to the computer with the USB cord. Go to the iPod through My COmputer- you'll see a few folder, but none with music in them. With the folder open, go to Tools - Folder Options. Go to the View Tab, and find "Hidden Files and Folders". Select "Show hidden files and folders". Now, there should be a few more folders that show up in the iPod folder. One of them will have about 50 different folders in it- these folders include all the songs on your iPod. Click and drag to your desktop (or wherever) and add the folders to a music program. ITunes works really well here. Through iTunes, you can consolidate the library (Advanced - Consolidate Library) which will organize your collection for you. Then, you can delete the original files. Done!

I don't believe you can transfer songs directly from an iPod back to a computer. The best you can do is burn the old songs onto CD as regular music files and the use the CD to turn back into mp3 files.

Use IGadget, it's a great program. I used the same when all my songs got deleted from my computer, and I still had them on my I-Pod. It's transfer speed is also pretty quick, unless you have a large amount of videos and such.

You need a program to download songs off the iPod. Search for it.
