I was wondering what the lines on a test stick meant !? When the test is positive does that mean the egg is released or it will be realeased in 12 - 24 hrs ? We have been trying for 10 months with no luck and have been starting sex from the day i get a positive result, and not doing it for abt a week berfore hand so the sperm can build up !? also any tips?

when the OPK test is positive it means that an egg will release within 48 hrs! by the time the positive result shows up LH has been present in your system for 6 hours. TYPICAL sperm live 3 days... but sperm CAN live longer under certain cercumstances. you are doing everything correctly... letting sperm count build up by not having sexual relations for a week prior to ovulation.
at this point i would like to ask if you are taking your basal body temperature every morning before you even get out of bed in the morning. this will allow you to better interpret when you will ovulate WHEN used with the OPK tests. here's a very good, free site that you can record your data at:

if, after one year of trying, you are not pregnant CONSULT your gynocologist! you may need a referal to an endocronologist. and the first thing the endocronologist is going to want to see are your BBT charts!

For the test to be positive BOTH lines have to be the same color or the test line can be darker than the control line. It isn't like a pregnancy test-2 lines doesn't always equal positive. Usually you will ovulate 24-36 hours after the positive and the sperm should already be waiting in your tubes when ovulation occurs!

it depends on the test. Clearblue easy- the lines apear when the hormone is detected which means you could already be ovulating, or you will begin ovulation within 24-36 hours. I have been trying for over three years. If you continue to have problems, I would talk to your doctor

try holding off on the having sex part alittle longer before trying and relax when you finally try. you cant be stressed about it and thinking the whole time oh i want a baby. i tried for about 5 months to get pregnant. once i thought i was and went to take a test and it came back neg. so i finally gave up thinking there was something wrong with me( man was i wrong...) after about 2 weeks we did it and a baby hadnt even been on my mind. a month later we found out that i was pregnant with twins!!!
