I want to plant a peach tree from the pit of the peach. I live in N Arkansas is this possible? If so, how should I plant them. The pits have been sitting on my counter for a couple of weeks now, are they still good?

If you are planting your peach seed in the ground outside make sure you plant it in a sunny location then I reccommend that you water it when you plant it. Then water it at least once a week until it is at least a foot tall. You can skip watering it on weeks that it rains at least one inch. You can stop watering it when winter comes and it drops it's leaves. Where do you live? What state? It my not even sprout till spring if you live in the northern states. Do not fertilize it till spring. Be sure to mark the location where you planted it especially if it doesn't sprout till spring.

The following site has good information on growig fruit trees from seed:

I don't see why it shouldn't still work -- and if not, just buy and eat another peach and use that pit! Just remember:

"Peaches from seed can result in trees that bear decent fruit, although they may not look or taste just like the peach from which the pit came. Most commercial peach varieties are budded onto specific varieties of rootstock."

Check the link below for the information you need on planting and watering specifics and good luck!
