completely pathetic? the people that are asking them, if it was your country being insulted, you wouldn't find it the least bit funny, don't try and justify it by saying you are only having a laugh, why don't you give the Americans a break and go and find something else stupid to pass the time?

no Pedro, i was born and raised in England, and there are a few people who have proven my point and even used this question to have a go! how sad. and for as many people slagging us British off, there are twice as many Americans defending us!

I think that everyone needs to sit back and take a break. I think the thing that irritates me the most about the American bashing is when they call me a Yank. I know that's what British people call us, but don't they realize that in half of the US that is a bad word? I'm from the south, and we call the northerners "damn yankees". If someone called us a yank they would probably get their butt kicked (remember we had a civil war?). Everyone has a right to a sense of humor on here, but I do think that sometimes it gets carried away, all in fun or not.

On this side of the pond, I agree completely. It gets tiring to read or hear these questions, especially when the people asking them have forgotten that other countries would incarcerate them if the slightest negative comment is made about the nation or their government (ex. North Korea, Cuba, China, Iraq (pre-Hussein), Iran ... the list can go on and on, not just with current administrations, but with past leaders as well).

I believe in the freedom of speech. However, with that right comes responsibility, which is greatly ignored for the most part. Just because you have the ability to say something does not necessarily mean you have to say it.

Take it easy over on the other side of the pond, Angel.

I think people's unjustified hate for the government results in them hating the people. I'm Canadian, I love most Americans, except a lot of the ones on the internet who give the citizens a bad name. Hell, I don't even hate the US government, just think it's pathetic and not well run. I mean lowering taxes whilst going to war wasn't the smartest move, but everyone makes mistakes, even(especially) the governments of the world.

It is very pathetic, and anyway most of the people that "bash" the American's have probably never even been to the US, ... it's a great place, nice & friendly too. I'm from the UK.

Stick it to em, Babe. I can't see why anyone would take the time to bash the Americans with all these smelly, whiney French scooting around on their butts.
You know, if you tick us off we'll kick some serious anus, but if you tick off the French they'll give up and let you move in.
What weenies

Well, I am an American. I was born here and have lived here for 48+ years and I agree we have some major problems and some really unattractive history.

Why should we, they are just as bad at doing the same to us, only some people don't see it. By the way are you American.

I FEEL LIKE THE PEOPLE ARE EXPRESSING HOW THEY FEEL BECAUSE OF WHAT THE COUNTRY (U.S. of A.) IS GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE A PRESIDENT MORE WORRIED ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES -VS- BEING WORRIED ABOUT HIS OWN. AND A LOT OF OTHER THINGS I DONT WANT TO GET INTO. I THINK THEY ARE JUST USING YAHOO ANSWERS TO VENT.
