First of all do you know what type of plant it is? Most house plants loose a few leaves from time to time and it's not anything to worry about. But if the plant just over all looks bad, you may need to water it more or less. And it could be in a place where it is not getting the proper light requirements. If you can find out what type of plant you have, try looking it up my name on the internet and finding out how much water and light it prefers. If you cant find out then try this, if you have been watering it alot, stop watering it so much. Most house plants should not be watered anymore than once a week. And if it's in a kind of dark area in your home move it next to a sunny window. And if it's already in a sunny window and it's dying, it could be that it's a low light plant and needs to be moved to a place where it's not getting direct sunlight. Pretty much I would suggest just doing the opposite of what you are already doing that is causing the plant to die. And if this fails, don't beat yourself up over it. I have lots of plants in my house that I have had for years. But on occasion one can die. It happens, you cant always control it. Best of luck with your plant.

A common mistake with house plants is that people overwater them. A typical houseplant should only need to be watered once a week unless it is getting bright sun.

More light? More water? Maybe try giving it some plant food? Keep it away from your cats? (Mine like to chew on my plants) Good luck.
