I'm having severe adware problems, and it happen when I mistakenly downloaded ad program. This program generate lot's of ads on my computer. Then I know the source of the adds, when I go to control panel programs I see the program it's called "advertisemen", every time I try to delete it my computer says "Error loading: the specific module could not be found" but I know the program is on my computer because ads keep popping up and I used the best spyware and adware programs, like spybot destroy, lavasoft adware protection, windows defender, windows malicious software removal; and it still doesn't work. There is some other spyware that I can't get off my system like zeno assistant. I need some serious help and advise.

Use all of these in safe mode once and it should be better.

In addition to what has already been stated, I would go to windows/system32 and organize the files be date created or modified. Find all files created on the date when the problem manifested. Attempt to delete them. I don't know why, but most of the programs you listed did not work for me in ridding myself of a similar virus. The only thing that worked was doing as I described. Sometimes the file will not delete saying it is in use. Attempt to delete it after a reboot into safe mode. If this does not work, get a program called Killbox and attempt to delete it using this program. I would also carefully scrutinize any files with the prefix Bho that hijack this pulls up. Most good Bho's have a description that indicates its source. If it doesn't, then I would delete it. I am not a computer expert, but this did work for me.

The only way for you to fix this is for you to format your hard drive and reinstall windows. This is now a big deal with Windows XP, as long as you have your installation disc and your user license (they right these down on your computer these days).

Computers hooked up to the internet are not secure. You need to develop the knowledge needed to periodically nuke your machine and rebuild it, specifically to deal with problems like what you have now. This, or something like it, will happen again and again, pretty much no matter what you do. No security program is effective in preventing, let alone fixing, these problems. But a reinstall is always effective. If you don't know how to do this, browse around on the web or at amazon.com for a guide on how to do this.

Once you have used all the free spyware programs (in safe mode) to remove as much as possible, then download a copy of hijackthis! and run a scan. Post the scan at bleepingcomputer.com forum and they will help you out.

firefox can edit which site/popup to block and unblock.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
