BIKE!!! Fantastic savings on gas, and you can always get a good rain suit for wet weather, and leathers for cold weather. I am female, 50-ish, and have only ridden a bike for the last 2 1/2 years. With big saddle bags and a mesh cargo handler, you can do plenty of grocery shopping or traveling!

Why not both? Car for winter and for hauling passengers and groceries and junk. Bike for warmer weather and for everything else. Bike gets WAY better gas milage and you can park almost anywhere if you are in the city. Also, most insurance companies will cut you a multi-vehicle discount. I say both.

bike, but you've got to watch out for cars cause they do not pay attention to you! so if you do pick a bike, you better make your bike stand out, maybe even make the engine louder (ONLY IF YOUR A BIKER - cars that are nosy just wants attention, when really only bikes should be making it, cause it's more understandable)
if car, then it's more visible. mostly ALL car drivers are careless and stubborn!!!

Bike if you already have a car. A motorcycle is a poor primary means of transportation, unless you live on a bus line.
