Ferrets are really cute, but they smell. I had one that was neutered and descented, I washed it weekly and cleaned it's cage daily, but the smell was horrendous.

THey are cute!! I don't know about the UK but here in Texas where I live, they cost about $175 with being descented and fixed. And then there is the cage and all the toys!! But I would say it is worth it!! Some places don't allow ferrets!! Talk to the vet and see if they are allowed to be pets over there! Some states here in the USA don't allow them in the whole state!! Do a lot of research before getting one!! They are alot of work and love!!

I couldn't tell you how much they are but it would be easy enough got you to find out...
They are so cute and not very noisey... they don't really smell so don't listen to the guy above... he just washes his ferret way too much mine don't really smell and I only bathe them like once every 6 monthes...make sure you do a lot a research and make sure that you are willing to work because it is always really sad when they don't have a home.
A good book to read is ferrets for dummies it has all of the info you need...

I have two and they are just the best pets EVER!!! they are so cute and sweet and lovable and cuddly and funny and mischievous and fun to carry around in your purse. I live in Virginia, and they cost about $110 apiece and come descented and fixed. You MUST fix them or 90% get cancer and die. If you don't breed or fix females they will never go out of heat, so they must be fixed or they will definitely die. But I love my babies, they don't smell bad at all, kinda like that old musk perfume, but not as strong. I kinda like it really. And bathing them is actually the worst thing you can do for the smell. It makes them produce more oil and makes their smell stronger. Mine are only bathed a few times a year since they are always inside and don't get dirty. The cage and accessories will probably cost more than the ferrets. Ferrets cannot be kept in a small cage and need a huge multilevel cage. They cannot be left out of the cage unsupervised or they will find everything that you never even knew you had and will get hurt if you don't pay close attention whenever they are out. They also need at least 3 or 4 beds, food dishes, water bottles, a litter box, toys, food, litter, furovite, furotone, bioder, treats, nail clippers( don't cut the quick!), quick blood stopper powder, ferret shampoo, ferret conditioner, and ferret creme rinse, ferret harnesses and ferret collars with bells so you can find them when they come out to play, ferret leashes that fit the harnesses so they dont get away when you carry them outside( DON"T PUT THEM DOWN!!!), ferret-proofing supplies, money for shots and vet bills, cat carriers, and it's a good idea to get two so they wont be lonely. Be carefull the dont escape from the cat carriers when you transport them! Mine figured out how to open one from the inside! Also, they must be fed comercial ferret food and should be given plain bottled water to drink with bioder in it. Only use Yesterday's News brand litter because cat litter can kill them, and don't use wood shavings for bedding or they can get resperatory infections. Watch for any poisens they can reach. Only a couple drops of an alcoholic drink can kill! Watch for other animals , kids, and open doors. They can also disconnect dryer hose, so make sure they don't! And make sure you dont use foot rests on chairs and couches or sit down or step without looking when they are out or they can get squashed. They like to steal your things and squirrel them away, so watch them carefully! Last of all, enjoy!

Ferrets are fantastic pets, I have 4 Jills, three are spayed and one is a kit @ 9 weeks old. You really need to research them on the web, as they do need to be cared for, you need to have time to care for them properly, and to know what you are letting yourself in for. If you are thinking of going abroad with one, you will need to check whether or not they are illegal in the country you are visiting. You can expect to pay anything upto £25 for one in the UK, depending on what type you get.

My two babies cost $99.00 each. I live in Texas. Mine were descented and fixed when I bought them.
I bought a used multi-level cage for them and it is plenty of room for the two.
They are a joy to have and a joy to watch. One of my boys looks like a little long raccoon and the other is white with black eyes. ..he is deaf but not the least bit handicaped by it.
*people without ferrets do not know what they are missing!!

Cute, cudly, and a great pet. The only drawback is they stink, BAD! I had to bathe mine every other day just to help the smell. You can't get rid of it either. Rumor is to fix them and the smell goes, no it don't.
