Go to the dealer and tell them what kind of riding you will be doing. Short trip, long trip, solo, extra passenger. Maybe like me you will haul groceries on it and need lots of storage. I have a large t-bag I keep in the smaller saddlebags and fasten it to the backrest. It can hold three full size bags of groceries.
The salesperson can check your size and fit you to a bike that will be comfortable and safe. Example, if you are short and small framed but by a big cruiser with all the extra bags it might be too heavy and clumsy and you will end up regretting it. If you have a large frame and buy too small a bike you will find yourself wanting to trade very soon. Don't buy something just because you THINK you will like it. Most Harley dealers now have demo rides where you can go and ride a wide variety of bikes to feel which one is most comfortable in the real world. Or better yet, you can rent a bike for a half day and go scooting anywhere you like. Shoot you could rent two diferent bikes at the half day rate. That's what I did before I made up my mind which bike I wanted.

Don't listen to Peanut brains. New Harleys have rubber mounted engines. If you can wait till the 2007s are out they are all fuel injected and the dynas all the way up to the road kings will have a 96 cubic inch engine. I have an 06 Streetbob and am very happy with it.

Anyone in the market for a Harley would probably not be asking nameless faceless 14 year olds which one to purchase.

#1, if a little vibration bothers you you were not meant to ride a motorcycle (peanutbrain)
#2, what is a shovel nose?
#3., buy the one you like the best and fits your needs and pay no attention to peoples opinions about what you ride. If you like it, ride it.

I don't know a thing about Harley's, but these two guys in my office are always talking about them... I pick up a word or two here and there...

Buy the one you like the most.
The best bang of the bucks is the FXSTI Softail Standard, rides and runs well, I have no vibration with mine. It's all good.
