five times this, or 5(3x) is the product of 5 and three times a number

'is' means here an equals sign

So far we have

5(3x) =

six less means to subtract 6 and nine times the number is 9x, so the equation is

5(3x) = - 6 + 9x

The product of 5 and three times a number is six less than 9 times the same number

15x = - 6 + 9x

Subtract 9x from both sides

6x = -6

Divide both sides by 6

x = - 1

Let the number be x.
Three times the number will be 3x.
Nine times the number will be 9x.
The product of 5 and three times a number is
5.3x.
Six less that nine times the number is 9x-6.

Now, the product of 5 and three times a number is (equal) to six less that nine times the same number. So,

5.3x = 9x-6
6x=-6
x=-1

So number is -1.

enable the variety be x. thrice the variety would be 3x. 9 cases the variety would be 9x. The made of 5 and thrice a variety is 5.3x. Six much less that 9 cases the variety is 9x-6. Now, the made of 5 and thrice a variety is (equivalent) to 6 much less that 9 cases the comparable variety. So, 5.3x = 9x-6 6x=-6 x=-a million So variety is -a million.
