Attraction doesn't come about JUST thinking of ones' genitals. There are other qualities about males that are appealing to gay men.

It's usually natural human curiousity. "Hey, it feels good in this hole. Why not try the other one?" Also, a rectum is substantially tighter than a vagina, and puts more friction on the penis. Most will say it feels better, for the man, at any rate.
Also, regarding bottoms on anal sex- when the couple engaging in anal sex are both men, the one on the bottom has the potential to have his prostate gland stimulated. This is basically the male equivalent to the female G-spot.

Oh! Sorry, you meant to insert the penis into. Goodness, why didn't I think of that? Well, yes, I have done that before many times, and the vagina felt great, but there was something else more important. I was lying to that woman and, worse, to myself. It was not her body part that I was messing with; it was both of our heads. And that did not feel great at all.

Let me break it down to you. Gay men aren't the only people who have anal sex. Hetero couples do more freaky stuff than what you think you know. I know of women who love anal sex with their hubbys or boyfriends. Don't don't make it a gay thing, sweetie. Everyone has done it once.
