You already are paying a larger tax once you cross over 95k so that bracket is already paying a higher percent of tax.

Wealth is a relative term. People measure wealth based on their current situation. So, a person making 40k/year will think that 100k is a wealthy. A person making a 100k will think that 200k is wealthy, etc.

I think people should be taxed fairly (same flat percentage rate) across. It will reduce overhead, etc. thus saving loads of money in creating complicated tax laws. And for those who measure wealth in a relative manner as above, the richer person will pay more in $$$. For the richer person, you are paying the same % as everyone else. Everyone happier than before!

I make over 100k and I dont consider my self wealthy.

I do good. However,

I get allot taken in child support plus I am already in a high tax bracket. Thats BS

How about those in the Million Dollar a year bracket that is wealthy

What take more than the 30 and some odd percent in taxes from me so i can have a Job that pays 125k but im only making 75K cuz the poor wants me to pay more taxes

get real.

If any of you MADE 100k or more your would realize that this is UPPER MIDDLE CLASS INCOME to the WEALTHY.

I dont own a million dollar house, I dont drive a benz or a bmw.

Thats for people that want to look like they have money.

I drive a chrysler. I live in an apartment. My suits cost about as much as my rent. I am not wealthy, I am well off. I if i lost my job sure I could live another 6 mos without pay, but I would be back on the unemployemtn line before long

I AM NOT WEALTHY BY AMERICAN STANDARDS

not by personal standards

Wealthy is having more than you need. If you have more than two pairs of shoes, more than two changes of underwear and socks, then you are wealthy. The poor in life are those who have nothing. So most peoples definition of poor and wealthy is wrong. People only use that 'wealthy' term to split up the country. I am only a graduate student, but I consider myself wealthy. I have an apartment, a wife and health. I am wealthy.

To define wealthy as anything more than that is STUPID, IGNORANT and DIVISIVE.

Anybody that has more money than me :)

seriously though, we should just keep a graduated income tax (the more you make the more you pay - kind of a nobless oblige thing). We should also simplify the tax code; 1/3 of the money brought in by the irs is used to run the irs, talk about a stupid system.

Wealth is relative and earned income is different than wealth. Wages should have a lower tax rate than capitol gains. Honest deductions that apply to incomes over $100,000 should take cost of living expense variables into account. Estates above $2,000,000 qualify as wealth and should be taxed. Further, those taxes should be earmarked first to restore social security trust fund., I don't trust Bush with more taxes.

I think in general, 100k a year strikes people as wealthy.. well at least in the US.

A flat tax makes more sense, the wealthy will still pay more but its not as confusing nor as arbitrary. Fairer all around if you ask me.

Wealth usually refers to money and property. It is the abundance of objects of value and also the state of having accumulated these objects. The use of the word itself assumes some socially-accepted means of identifying objects, land, or money as "belonging to" someone, i.e. a broadly accepted notion of property and a means of protection of that property that can be invoked with minimal (or, ideally, no) effort and expense on the part of the owner. Concepts of wealth vary among societies

Wealthy people are people who say tax the wealthy. Afterall, the constitution guarantees us the right to property, and they wouldn't want to take the property of others who didn't wanted it taken.
