the colour cartidge is full and not blocked it prints like there is ink in it but no colour printout
i have to print any pictures in black please help as i cannot afford to buy another one any time soon

Mmmmmmmm, it sounds as though your printer is a load of sh*t. Have you ever thought of taking it outside and kicking the f*ck out of it.

Unfortunately, lexmarks are known for these issues. Believe me when I say that you would be so much better off with an HP printer. They have been around for a long time and are loads more reliable. With the three HP printers I've had so far, I've had no problems whatsoever. My current is a DeskJet 3845. You can get them cheap for $40 at places like Staples & Best Buy. It is a VERY reliable printer.

Make sure the windows printer settings are on colour, not b&w. Use start, printers and faxes to change the settings though, they stick.

Or it could be that the cartridge is blocked (as in the protective tape is still on). Have a look.

It seems your printer is ok? when did you put your colour in?
take it out and make sure it does not have any tape around it
I am silly but it happened to me.

Check drivers first then if thats OK check cartrges, try a test print
