well, i know i'm a bit late in answering this and that the thunderstorm's passed by now, but for future reference:
1. unplug your internet connection from your pc...modem, telephone line etc. wireless connections are obviously okay. electricity travelling down your telephone line will fry your modem. won't hurt you but it will hurt your pocket.
2. do not use the telephone if you are scared. this could also be fried and if you're using it when the lightning strikes it would probably do irreparable harm to your psyche. you could send text messages instead.
3. if you have a car you could always grab a sleeping bag and go sit in it...it's meant to be the safest place in a thunderstorm as it's earthed by the rubber tyres.
4. the answers posted on here about distraction are good advice...that's the best way to get thru anything that's scary

I will tell you the same thing that I tell my kids. You are safe inside and the storm is outside. If it really bothers you, try to keep yourself busy and don't think about it. If you have a set of headphones and a blindfold, put those on and listen to something that is relaxing or maybe something that is loud so the noise drowns out the thunder and the blindfold to darken your eyes so you can't see. You will get through the storm just like you did with the other ones when your boyfriend is home. Also, just think about how good you will feel when the storm is over and you lived! Without the comfort of your boyfriend. You will make it through this and all other storms, you need to find out how to relax through them. The more stressed you get out about them, the more you will get scared. Once again, they are outside and you are inside.

i usually turn my music on and just carry ona normal to my music playing.just keep yourself busy and it will soon pass, all the time your sitting there watching it your getting yourself all worked up, which isnt good,.
or a friend on the phone and have a chat if you can this will help take your mind off it, or invite one over, better still cant you go out shopping or something where eveything is undercover and that way your away from it and cant see it, and perhaps treating yourself to something nice in the process, or even go to the cinema with a m8 if possible, yourinside cant hear anytthing and by the time the films over your storms all gone and you can get on with your day.
these are just a few ideas, dont know if there help, but thats what id do if i didnt like them.
take care

take a pill if you have any this may sound crazy but this seems to be a fear that can take over you. You might want to talk to a Dr. about getting something to calm you when the storms come about. Until then all you can do is wait the storm out try to meditate
in your mind go to a different place and really concentrate about where you want to be like the beach or a different country you could use fanatsy as well

Don't take a shower or bath during a thunderstorm. You might get electrocuted by lightning.
Try to relax by breathing slowly, and maybe praying, if you believe in that sort of thing.
I am also terrified of storms, and I have found that watching the radar images on the internet makes me much less afraid because I can see whether or not the storm is severe.

Observe it through the window of your abode and wonder at nature's excellence........Don't go outside in case you are struck by lightning!
I'm surprised that you're on the computer during a thunderstorm anyway!! It could fry your modem!!
You're probably a bit scared because you're on your own...Light some candles and chill out!! Breathe deeply, tell yourself that you can DO this and just relax.
Thunderstorms are fantastic for clearing the air..Weather wise and personally wise!
Enjoy it!
It's as good as a long soak in the bath!

I would call someone you can talk to that can help you through it and keep you calm. It might be a good idea to go somewhere where you won't see the lightening and where you will hear less noise, like the bathroom, or the kitchen if there's no window there.

Well, I think it's leaving you and arriving here where I live, so perhaps you can stop worrying now. Remember that the chances of a storm hurting you are so tiny they're not worth worrying about. To stop my children being frightened when they were little we used to watch the storm through the window and enjoy the display!

Ok, i used to hate t-storms too. Make yourself a nice relaxing cup of tea, or whatever. Eat chocolate...
Curl up somewhere (or stay on the internet with us) and just listen to the thunder. I used to hate it, till I started to really listen. Now, I love it. Its beautiful. You're in a safe place, and you will be fine.
We're here, (even tho we've never met) and you're not alone.

Go outside and hide under a tree just kidding and by the way don't listen to the people who say to take a shower or a bath if you do that you might end up dead.
